My streak of blogging hit a bump, but I'm happy that I was able to blog as many days as I did. Now that the holiday is over, I'd like to say that I'll be back to it, but unfortunately, I'm having a colonoscopy later this week and so there's not going to be much to blog about regarding exercise and diet. If any of you out there have ever had a colonoscopy, you've probably had to do the limited diet for a few days prior to the procedure. I had to start on Saturday and it's been tough. Here is a list of just some of the things I'm not allowed to eat right now:
- Fresh veggies and fruit (except bananas and applesauce)
- Nuts
- Seeds
- Leafy greens
- Oatmeal
- Any wheat products (bread, pasta, brown rice)
Basically most of what I normally eat! But it's only for a couple of more days. I'll survive. I miss my smoothies and Buddha bowls, though!
In other news, I spent a few days over Thanksgiving with my dad and stepmom, and my youngest daughter came with me. David stayed behind to watch the dogs and to "give me a break". It was David's idea, I swear! But it was good to get a bit of a break from caretaker responsibilities for him and the dogs. I still worried about all of them, and missed them terribly, but it was good to get some rest and relaxation. It was a brief vacation from any responsibilities. I slept in each day I was away, something that I'm never able to do, and it was just what I needed.
Today I did the last day of LIIFT4. I wasn't sure how I'd feel with all the eating I did over Thanksgiving and not being able to eat my normal diet over the last couple of days, but I actually felt really good. Overall, I felt like my strength and endurance improved over the last eight weeks. I haven't decided what I'm doing next. There is a new lifting program coming out on BODi, but not until December 19, so I have a few weeks. I'm leaning towards just doing the first few weeks of LIIFTMore, since it's basically the same format as LIIFT4, but more challenging.
Next week I'm going to start tracking my macros again. It's not something I necessarily enjoy doing, but I think it's needed in order to make sure I fuel my body correctly. I think it's especially important during the holiday season. At the very least, I know I'll be eating healthy most days and so I'll already be starting the new year on a healthy note. I'll also go back to blogging every day because it's become such an invaluable tool for me.
So - see you in a week!
