Current workout program

I do my workouts at home. I tried the gym a few years ago and it wasn't for me. I like being able to stay home and work out at my convenience in the privacy of my own home. I've built a nice little gym in our basement and it works out well. I subscribe to Beachbody on Demand (think the Netflix of workout programs) and so I have access to tons of different workout programs.

On Monday I started Get Strong with Kelsey Heenan and it's going really well. The workouts are 30 minutes and there are six workouts each week, with one being an active recovery day with a mobility workout. Depending on the day, I'll use anywhere from 5-lb weights to 25-lb weights.

I'm enjoying this program so far. The moves are simple, but effective. The trainer, Kelsey, is enthusiastic and encouraging. There is a moderator in the cast, so if there are moves that I can't do, I know I can always moderate. There is no shame in moderating, especially for someone my age. Pushing my body to do something is not worth an injury!

I also have a spin bike and Beachbody offers spin classes, so a couple of days a week I'll add on a 15- or 20-minute spin class after my workout for some extra cardio and movement.

For me, it's important to follow a structured program. Before I start a program, I print out the workout calendar so that I know what I'll be doing each day. I get a feeling of accomplishment each time I check off a workout and I feel really proud each time I complete an entire program.

I'm looking forward to seeing what week two brings!
