Daily diary - Friday 11/10/23

I woke up this morning feeling a bit sluggish. But once I was up and moving around, I felt more ready to face the day. Besides, it's Friday! Yay!

After feeding the dogs, drinking my cup of coffee, eating a banana with peanut butter, and emptying the dishwasher, I opened up a container of a new pre-workout supplement that I haven't tried before. To be completely honest, this was a mistake from Amazon. I had ordered a different pre-workout, but they sent me this one instead. I looked at the reviews for it (and it was a more expensive brand), so I decided to keep it and give it a try.

It tasted good and mixed well. After waiting for about 20 minutes for it to kick in, I did today's scheduled leg day, which was all HIIT. God, I was really dreading this workout. We did 60 seconds of plyo lunge jumps, 45 seconds of triple bears (!), 30 seconds of soccer sprints, and 15 seconds of squat jumps. Then we repeated the whole thing two more times. After that, we did 30 seconds of all of the moves and did that block twice. My legs felt like heavy logs by the end, but I got through all of the moves, even those damn triple bears! We then finished with some core exercises.

The pre-workout had me buzzing! I felt like I wanted to go outside a run a few laps, and my skin was tingling. I'd best cut back on it until I get used to it. But it works!

After my workout, I had a protein shake. I've really been enjoying this brand:

I like to mix it with some unsweetened soy milk and a bit of cold water.

I showered, dressed, and took Luna to the vet for her ruptured anal gland follow-up. She is all healed up, which is great news! She doesn't have to go back for any more follow-ups!

When I got home I took care of some work emails and then ate breakfast. I had some leftover egg and veggie hash that I made last night for dinner, along with a cup of black coffee.

Lunch was a tuna salad sandwich with a side of grape tomatoes. After I ate, I did a 15-minute walk. I made a soy milk latte and worked for the rest of the afternoon.

I logged off work a bit early and David and I went for a walk at our local trail. The wind was a bit cold and blustery, so we didn't walk as far as we had planned, but still got in a good walk. Then we stopped at the store to get a few things for dinner. Unfortunately, I didn't have a snack before our walk which was a big oversight on my part. By the time we got to the grocery store, I was feeling really shaky and HANGRY. By the time we got home, I was ready to eat everything in the pantry. I ended up eating a bunch of peanut butter stuffed pretzels and some snack mix. I also had a couple of glasses of wine.

David grilled us a steak for dinner and we had a salad and baked potato as sides. Because of all the snacks I felt really full and ended up going to bed with a stomachache.

Lesson learned: make sure I eat an afternoon snack to prevent the hangriness!

We watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, which was okay. The first movie is still one of my all-time favorite movies. I was in bed by about 9:30.
