It's our wedding anniversary today. David and I have been married 35 years! It's crazy that we've been together that long. We've been through so much together and I can't imagine having anyone else for my forever partner.
I took the day off of work, but I still set my alarm for 5:00 so that I could get in a workout before the day started. Today we focused on back and triceps.
No earth-shattering moments, other than the fact that triceps dips are a lot easier for me now, and I can do a lot more than I used to!
After drinking a post-workout protein shake, I showered and dressed and ate some overnight oats. Then I went with David to his medical appointments. He met with his neurosurgeon for a follow-up. He's still having numbness in one of his hands, but no pain. He is also still experiencing dizzy spells. They still can't figure out why he's having them. It could be that he had a small stroke back in May, but the doctors are also wondering if it's perhaps due to COVID or the vaccine. It's extremely frustrating and David would like to just get back to normal activities and return to work. We were at the VA for quite a while; he was also trying to sort out paperwork for his short-term disability.
Then David had a couple of physical therapy appointments. One was for strengthening post neck surgery and the other was to work on his dizziness and balance issues. Because it was past lunch, I went to a restaurant across the street from the rehab facility to get something to eat. I had a really yummy salad and a cup of coffee. I was also able to get in some reading.
By the time we got home, it was 3:30. We had dinner reservations at a local restaurant for 5:30, so David rested for a couple of hours and I watched some episodes of Only Murders in the Building.
Dinner was at a local Italian restaurant. We had a couple of drinks, along with salad and pasta. We talked about what a challenging year it has been for us, but we are trying to be optimistic that 2024 will bring David better health and that he'll be well enough for us to go on some adventures together. We'd love to be able do a long weekend somewhere next year for our anniversary. I've always wanted to go to Napa Valley. That would be so much fun!
We came home and watched the rest of the Iowa women's basketball game and then I went to bed shortly after, as it was a really long day and I was just ready to go to sleep and start fresh tomorrow.
