This week was the last week of the program I've been doing! It's always an awesome feeling when I complete a program. It's even more awesome when I end the program with visible results! But I'll talk more about that shortly.
The most exciting thing about this week's workouts (other than the fact that it was the last week - ha!) was that I continued to increase the weights.
It started on Monday with chest and back:
Tuesday was leg day and for the first time ever, I used 30-lb weights for my deadlifts. I also went up in a few other exercises. The other thing that I was happy with was my performance in the HIIT exercises - week 8 of this program is no joke, and while those HIIT moves were killer, I felt like I rocked it. My planks have improved a lot as well.
On Wednesday, we focused on shoulders. Shoulders is the one area of my body where I felt like I had plateaued for the longest time, but I feel like I'm improving and getting stronger.
Thursday was a rest and recovery day, so I did a 20-minute stretching workout.
Friday was the most exciting day of the week. Although it was another leg day, I felt strong and guys, I USED A 50-LB WEIGHT for the hanging sumo squat!! I also used 35-lb weights for the wide-leg deadlifts! It felt incredible!
Yesterday was the final day of the program and we focused on biceps and triceps. Like shoulders, I felt like I could never get past the 5-lb and 8-lb weights for the longest time, but yesterday I went up in everything, and I am just so excited to keep progressing.
Today I took my progress pics and my measurements. Although the scale says I only lost one pound, I lost two inches around my waist, and 4-1/2 inches overall! I can see some changes in my body when I look at my pictures from January versus today. My sleep is good, my energy level is good, and I feel stronger.
What's next? Tomorrow I'm starting a new program called Body Beast. I'm going to continue to focus on strength training, and I'll do a spin class once a week to get in some cardio. Tracking my food has helped me to stay more on track with my eating, so I'll continue to do that. Most importantly, I'm going to make sure I eat enough protein and calories to fuel my workouts.
This fit granny has goals. By the end of this next program, I plan to be even stronger!
