This past week I started the "bulk" phase of my current workout program, Body Beast. I'm loving it much more than the first phase. The format is a bit different. The workouts are shorter, but much more intense. We have less moves, but more sets and reps.
I took my pics and measurements and over the last four weeks, there hasn't been any change. I can't say that I'm surprised. The last several weeks have been stressful with the adoption of Chewie. My routine was disrupted, I hadn't been sleeping well, and I was slacking off on tracking my food so there were a lot of days when I had no idea how much protein or calories I was eating. I was also getting back into a daily habit of drinking an evening glass of wine.
I'm giving myself grace. Considering everything, I still managed to get all of the workouts done and I tried to eat as many healthy meals as I could. I'm confident that the "bulk" phase, which is six weeks long, will go well. My goal is to keep getting stronger and progress with the weights.
Here are my tracking sheets for the week's workouts:
Those five sets of five reps - killer! Leg day was my favorite workout. My glutes felt the after-burn from that for days! Arm day was the most challenging.
I did much better this past week with eating and tracking food. My husband had to make another trip to Ohio to help take care of his dad, and I never sleep well while he's away. But I decided that instead of stress-eating and drinking, I would use the time alone as a self-care mission. I think I was successful!
